The pupil will be required to prepare for their own theory test. However the school can book the test if required. CD-ROM can be provided to assist with both the theory and Hazard Perception Test (HPT) training. The instructor can also assist with any questions the candidate may have with regards to the theory test.

You can practise your test on the DSA official site,
just click on link:   www.theory-tests.co.uk/home/

If you wish to book your own test we recommend doing this on-line at www.direct.gov.uk/drivingtest

In addition during the practical training at all stages of the training the pupil will be shown how the theory relates to the practical driving experience. This will facilitate the pupil to pass the multiple choice questions part of the theory test.

However there are two parts to the theory test and the second section is the Hazard Perception Test (HPT). As part of the practical training the pupil will receive instruction pertinent to the HPT starting with basic driving skills such as the MSM routine, how to "look" by scanning, how to prioritise the hazards seen having been trained on how to look for clues of a developing hazard. Then of course the pupil is trained not only on preventative measures that will cut down the the hazard risk but also how to respond once a potential hazard is detected.
